(Login for Information) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our esteemed partner, a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center located in Philadelphia, PA. This is a unique opportunity to become a key member of a developing comprehensive pediatric cardiac program.
Position Details:
As the second full-time pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist, you will play a crucial role in providing expert anesthetic care for complex cardiac cases. Initially, responsibilities will include covering both pediatric cardiac procedures (surgical and interventional) and general pediatric anesthesia cases, collaborating with a team of 11 general pediatric anesthesiologists.
- Call Structure: No in-house overnight call is required. Call is taken from home and shared equitably among the anesthesia group, which includes the full-time physicians and two part-time, as-needed cardiac anesthesiologists.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Provide high-quality, safe anesthetic care for infants, children, and adolescents undergoing cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology procedures, and general pediatric surgery/procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative evaluations and develop appropriate anesthetic plans.
- Manage patients' physiological status during complex procedures, including invasive monitoring techniques.
- Participate actively in post-operative care coordination and pain management.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, pediatric intensivists, perfusionists, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and safety practices within the growing cardiac program.
- Participate fairly in the shared, from-home call rotation.
- Potentially contribute to the education and training of fellows, residents, or students as the program develops.
Required Qualifications:
- Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Pediatric Anesthesiology through the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or equivalent.
- Training:
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship is required.
- Additional fellowship training specifically in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia is required (completion of a dedicated one-year Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia fellowship is strongly preferred).
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) to four (4) years of clinical experience practicing as a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist within a well-established pediatric cardiac program is required.
