About the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Physician Position

(Login for Information)in conjunction with (Login for Information) (DCMCCT), is seeking Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit physicians to be part of the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. These physicians will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to serve the growing need of the regional pediatric population in Central Texas to deliver world class pediatric heart care.
Candidates will possess experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Primary responsibilities will include oversight and provision of direct care to patients in the mixed PICU/PCICU as well as the critical care team responsible for taking care of these patients. Candidates will also participate in coordinated outreach efforts for the Center.
A successful candidate will have an appointment within the (Login for Information) at Dell Medical School and regular participation in educational activities with medical students and residents will be expected. Opportunities for collaboration with medical and adjunct specialties will be encouraged to allow for the pursuit of innovative program development and clinical research initiatives.
Candidates will be board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Critical Care with additional training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care (not required if dual boarded in Cardiology).  Hiring is contingent upon obtaining medical licensure in the state of Texas.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for his/her specialty. Board certification or board eligible within two (2) years of completion of training.
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain prior to appointment). 
  • Demonstrated leadership, clinical teaching, evaluation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence/motivate others at all professional and administrative levels.
  • Must be an innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence.
  • Must possess tenacity, self-motivation and initiative necessary to drive the development and maintenance of established and new programs.
  • A track record of being able to lead, direct, and influence a team (regardless of reporting lines). Demonstrates behaviors of a team player.
  • Eligible for appointment as an assistant professor or higher in the Department of Pediatrics.
