SCVMC is an ACS-verified Level 1 Trauma Center, a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, an ABA-verified Burn Center, a Primary Stroke Center, a Level 4 NICU, and a nationally recognized CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center.  Owing to its geographic location and specialty offerings, SCVMC not only serves the County, but also the larger region.

About the Department

Our Department of Pediatrics has a busy 36-bed Pediatric Ward, 12-bed PICU, 40-bed level IV NICU, 7 outpatient clinics in the south Bay Area. We are a key training site for the Stanford pediatric residents and work closely with our pediatric specialists and in-patient team to provide the best medical home for our patients.

About the Positions

Our hospitalists divide their time among the pediatric ward, NICU, and well-baby nursery (all areas are required for all providers).  The schedule includes daytime and nighttime/weekend responsibility. A successful candidate would bring outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills, commitment to the care of the traditionally underserved and interest in clinical teaching. As a safety-net hospital, we serve a diverse community and provide care for many patients significantly impacted by social determinants of health.

The candidates must have NRP and PALS certifications; PHM board certification is not required. Recognizing that many graduating residents have had limited L&D/NICU experience, we provide on-the-job training for neonatal skills including resuscitation, with two providers in-house for all night shifts.
