Role Summary:
We are actively interviewing for a full-time Physician to join our team in San Leandro, California. This role offers a unique opportunity to support individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs through expert psychological services, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and the development of impactful intervention plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments for individuals referred to Intake and Assessment Unit, including reviewing medical records and collaborating with current providers.
- Perform detailed histories and physical exams to assess developmental and medical status for both new and existing clients.
- Coordinate with community physicians and health agencies to exchange relevant health information, arrange additional care, and ensure appropriate levels of medical supervision.
- Collaborate with case managers and interdisciplinary teams to offer medical consultation and provide input for ongoing case management.
- Offer expert consultation to healthcare providers and agencies regarding the health and developmental needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Advocate for clients to ensure timely access to appropriate and effective health services within the community.
- Educate and provide clinical support to case managers, counselors, and facility staff, enhancing their understanding of client medical needs.
- Partner with community professionals and agencies to help build greater developmental disability care capacity and expertise.
- Participate in the development and enhancement of programs designed to benefit the overall health and well-being of clients.
- Represent the facility at meetings with community physicians and engage in professional development and public education efforts through committees and associations.
Required Qualifications:
- License as a Physician in the State of California
- Residency in pediatrics preferred, consideration to candidates with internal medicine or neurology
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Experience conducting psychological evaluations and assessments, including competency evaluations.
