About the Clinician's WorkdayThe geriatric psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care for adult inpatient services working 12-hour day shifts with night call coverage in a 7-on/7-off rotation. The clinician will round on 15-18 patients daily while managing new admissions averaging 5-7 patients and coordinating discharges averaging 4-5 patients per day. Responsibilities include handling approximately 3 new consultations plus follow-ups daily, covering psychiatric emergencies, and managing patients across 2 adult psychiatric units totaling 37 beds with typical census of 30+ patients. The position requires board certification in psychiatry with prescriptive authority and involves collaboration with 2 physicians, 2-3 residents, and family medicine physicians who manage histories and physicals for the service.
