Job Description

Multiple Locations Available:
Chester ($170/hr), Elgin ($155/hr), Springfield ($155/hr), Park Forest ($160/hr) - Illinois

Contract 1 year; possibility to extend 10 years

Monday-Friday 40 hours a week

Flexible on daily hours as long as it allows for attendance to all required meetings

Seeking to hire a Medical Director with an Illinois Physical and Surgeon License with a specialty in Psychiatry. Board Certification is required to provide medical leadership and oversight of the psychiatry services provided in Springfield, Illinois. Job Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership:

  • Lead and support clinical staff across disciplines.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, patient-centered care programs.
  • Provide expert input on complex cases and individualized treatment plans.

Medical & Behavioral Health Oversight:

  • Supervise psychiatric care, medication management, and crisis interventions.
  • Ensure quality in MAT, mental health, and dual diagnosis treatment.
  • Monitor care outcomes and drive continuous improvement.

Regulatory & Quality Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF).
  • Lead internal audits and quality improvement efforts.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work cross-functionally with facility leadership and care teams.
  • Educate and support patients and families.
  • Coordinate care with external providers.

Staff Development:

  • Supervise, mentor, and train clinical staff.
  • Facilitate ongoing education and team development.

Administration:

  • Contribute to budget planning, strategic initiatives, and documentation standards.
  • Support growth and responsiveness to patient needs.

Crisis Management:

  • Lead response efforts during emergencies and psychiatric crises.
  • Implement and oversee safety protocols and de-escalation procedures.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Illinois medical license and ABMS certification (or equivalent) in psychiatry
  • 3+ years in medical program administration (planning, directing, evaluating)

Preferred:

2+ years in each of the following:

  • Coordinating multidisciplinary health services
  • Managing and evaluating medical care delivery
  • Supervising medical staff
  • Recommending service program changes
  • Providing technical training/support
  • Communicating with stakeholders
  • Conducting quality assurance assessments
    Practicing psychiatry, reporting incidents

Conditions:

  • On-call availability (after hours/weekends/holidays)
  • Travel required
  • Must hold DEA registration, Illinois Controlled Substance License, and Illinois Physician & Surgeon License

Working Hours

  • Monday-Friday 40 hours a week
