Job Description

  • Assistant Professor (Psychiatry)
Position Summary :
Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.
Key Areas of Responsibility :
  • Provides clinical and administrative leadership to include monitoring and adjusting schedules/rotations as needed in both outpatient/and or inpatient psychiatric care services, administer training activities for outpatient and/or inpatient services and embracing continuous quality improvement
  • Provides patient care for outpatient and/or inpatient psychiatric care services
  • Participates in teaching and training psychology interns, psychology post-doctoral trainees, residents, fellows and medical students including presentation of lectures
  • Participates in academic research and scholarly activities in the Department of Psychiatry
  • Participates in committees and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Required Qualifications :
  • M.D. / D.O.
  • Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency program in psychiatry
  • Board-certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Licensure or eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
Desired Qualifications :
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Demonstrated track record in research and peer-reviewed publications (for rank of Associate Professor or higher)
  • Regionally or nationally recognized clinical expertise (for rank of Associate Professor or higher)
