A residential facility is seeking a psychiatrist for locum tenens coverage.
The facility is located in the upper valley region of Vermont.
Candidate is to support a primarily adult residential mental health program with a current census of 34 residents (typically around 30 actively engaged in treatment). This is a part-time role offering 816 hours per week, with flexible scheduling based on provider availability and preference. A hybrid model is available, though some on-site presence is required to meet clinical needs. Key Responsibilities include conducting initial psychiatric evaluations for new residents (approximately 1 hour per intake, as needed) and providing ongoing medication management visits (typically lasting 1530 minutes). Patients are generally seen weekly or bi-weekly during the stabilization phase. Once they are stable, it transitions to monthly visits. Responsibilities also include participating in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to review resident care and clinical progress. The resident population consists of adults diagnosed with a range of psychiatric conditions, including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders, bipolar disorder, major depressive and anxiety disorders, PTSD and trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, thought disorders (psychosis spectrum), and co-occurring substance use disorders (dual diagnosis). This role is ideal for a candidate who values collaborative care, autonomy in clinical decision-making, and working with a complex adult mental health population in a structured, supportive residential setting.
