Psychiatrist - Ambulatory       

Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Christiansburg, Virginia

(Login for Information) and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine are seeking a full-time Ambulatory Psychiatrist at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Join a multidisciplinary treatment team providing comprehensive mental health assessments and personalized treatment plans addressing a range of diagnoses including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, addiction and other conditions.

The position includes an academic appointment at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Assessment/evaluation/treatment of psychiatric illnesses 
• Psychiatric medication evaluation and management 
• Ordering diagnostic tests, medications, and other therapies and collaboration with consultants
• Timely completion of medical record documentation in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, regulatory standards and guidelines
• Coordination and continuation of the care for patients in adherence to state and federal guidelines and discharge planning
• Serving as an on-call physician when scheduled as needed
• Working with and supervising advanced practice providers
• Working with learners, medical students, PA students, residents

Requirements:

• Degree from an accredited medical school
• ABPN board certification or eligibility
• Successful completion of accredited residency in Psychiatry
• Skilled in interpersonal communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with patients and families.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
