Job Description

Position Summary :
Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching and service, some variation by academic unit
Key Areas of Responsibility :
  • Provides direct patient care by evaluating, diagnosing, and treating the full spectrum of mental health conditions using a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment modalities within a multidisciplinary setting
  • Provides consultation to faculty and learners concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients
  • Provides crisis-intervention support, as needed
  • Assumes professional responsibility for their clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and clinical documentation
  • Teaches and supervises psychology interns, psychology post-doctoral trainees, residents, fellows, and medical students in both clinical and classroom settings
  • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
  • Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work
  • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complimentary to the institutional mission
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Required Qualifications :
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree in psychology from a college or university that is accredited by the American Psychological Association
  • Successful completion of an internship or residency in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
Desired Qualifications :
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience with integration of current technologies in the delivery of care such as the use of Clinical Video Telehealth
  • Emerging or established regional or national professional reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher
