Position Overview
VT Cares is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Health Data Analyst to support data analysis, reporting, and insights related to healthcare quality, population health, utilization, and operational performance. This fully remote role collaborates with clinical, operational, and leadership teams to transform health data into actionable insights that improve patient outcomes and organizational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze healthcare data including claims, EHR, quality measures, utilization, and population health metrics
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders
Monitor trends in cost, quality, access, and outcomes
Support regulatory, quality, and payer reporting requirements
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
Collaborate with clinical, IT, finance, and leadership teams to define data needs
Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
Support ad-hoc data requests and special projects
Document data definitions, methodologies, and processes
Call Frequency (If Applicable)
Minimal to none
Occasional on-call or after-hours support for urgent data requests or reporting deadlines (typically rare and scheduled in advance)
Locums / Contract Dates (If Applicable)
Start Date: Flexible
Duration: 3–6 months (with possibility of extension or conversion to permanent role)
Schedule: Flexible hours based on project needs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Public Health, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
2+ years of experience in healthcare or health data analytics
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working with large datasets
Knowledge of healthcare data sources (EHR, claims, quality metrics)
Understanding of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy standards
Preferred Skills & Technical Requirements
SQL (required)
Excel (advanced)
Data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar)
Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
Familiarity with value-based care, population health, or quality reporting
Python or R (preferred but not required)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
