General Surgery Locums Job in North Central Mississippi | Seeking 24-hour Weekend/Holiday Call Coverage | May 2025 + Ongoing

Jackson and Coker is partnering with a facility in north/central Mississippi seeking one to two General Surgeons for weekend 24-hour call coverage and holiday coverage this year. The facility needs one to two weekends of coverage per month and prefers candidates with scheduling flexibility.

Coverage Needs:
--Seeking 24-hour weekend call coverage starting on Friday's at 7AM through Monday at 7AM

Also seeking holiday coverage & willing to pay 1.5x the daily rate on the holiday itself on each of the following stretches:
* Friday, 5/23 – Tuesday, 5/27 at 7AM (Monday, 5/25 is Memorial Day)
* Friday, 8/29 at 7AM – Tuesday, 9/2 at 7AM (Monday, 9/1 is Labor Day)
* Wednesday, 11/27 at 7AM – Monday, December 1st at 7AM (Thurs, 11/27 is Thanksgiving)
* Wednesday, 12/24 at 7AM – Monday, December 29 at 7AM (Thursday, 12/25 is Christmas Day)
* Wednesday, 12/31 at 7AM – Friday, January 2 at 7AM (Thursday is NYD 2026)

Credentialing Requirements:
- A minimum of 110 general/trauma surgery procedural case logs (trauma, large colon cases + other ED emergencies) during the past 24 months and be able to provide them at the time of presentation 
- Three references from the last 24 months: 2 peer references +  1 leadership (department chief, medical director, etc.) 
- 40 hours of CME per two year cycle 

Coverage Details for Assignment #107950:
-- Board Certification + active, unrestricted Mississippi medical license required (willing to accept candidates with active IMLC)
-- 100% 24-hour call coverage only - no clinic/outpatient coverage needs
-- Bread & Butter General Surgery coverage to include level 3 trauma 
-- Will be completing daily patient rounding (may include some attached patients) + covering the ED for new consults/emergent cases 
-- Average # of cases vary due to the facility being located in a college town. Will see a minimum of 2-3 cases day + up to 7-8 on home game weekends.
-- Facility has two staffed General Surgeons - locums coverage is to allow them to have some time off 
-- No mid-level support at the facility designated to General Surgery service line
-- Hospital details: 200+ bed facility, Level III Trauma Designation, Epic EMR
