General Surgery Locums Job in Virginia| 24-Hour On Call Coverage | Beginning in July 2025 | Assignment # 110123

Coverage Needed: 24-Hour Call Only 

Shift Description: 
--Call response time: 30 minutes 
--7am-7am; NOT In-House call 

Requirements:  
--Board certified or board eligible 
--Virginia license only 
--Fellowship required 
--Required Skills: General surgery (adult, trauma (preferred)), Laparoscopic surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and Nissen fundoplication), Head/neck surgery (including thyroid), Chest wall/pleural procedures, Breast surgery, Liver surgery, GI endoscopy (upper, lower (sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy)), Minor orthopedics, Hand surgery, Ventilation management, Chest tube insertion, Central line insertion, PA catheter placement, Laser certification, Vascular surgery (aneurysm repairs (thoracic & abdominal), arterial bypass, peripheral, vascular access devices, av shunt), Plastic surgery 
--Additional procedure for physicians trained as pediatric surgeons: Artesias (esophageal, intestinal, & biliary), Abdominal wall defects (gastroschisis), Umbilical defects (hernia & omphalocele), Diaphragmatic hernia, Imperforate anus, and PDA ligation 

Assignment Details: 
--EMR: Athena & Meditech 
--Setting: inpatient 
--No admissions required 
--Hospital stroke certified  
--Temporary privileges available – credentialing 60 days 
--Beds per department: 24 
--Trauma level: 0 
--Support staff: 3-4 RN 
--No required supervision of APP or residents 
--Called in for: request from hospitalist to consult on patient that is inpatient, emergency room provider request consult, or request to assist another physician with emergency surgery
