Job Description

McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position in the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, TX, Texas. The candidate will serve as full time surgical faculty at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and will be an integral part of the development of the next ACS Level 1 Verified Trauma Center in Houston, Texas.  A new $1.6 billion hospital is currently under construction and is expected to open in late 2028. The new Lyndon B. Johnson hospital will become the county's third adult Level I trauma hospital. The candidate will join a talented team of physicians that strive for excellence in education, research and clinical practice. 

Position Key Accountabilities:

The candidate with rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Surgery will participate in the acute care surgery clinical practice at Lyndon B. Johnson hospital. They will also participate in collaborative activities with the broader Department of Surgery at (Login for Information). Active participation in the teaching activities of the Department of Surgery is expected. This includes patient rounds, presentations and lectures, and attendance at appropriate conferences, such as Surgery Grand Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality Conferences, plus the scheduled LBJ Division conferences. The candidate will also participate in academic activities that may include research, quality improvement, education, and administration.
